Counterfeit Currency

 

Tonga Police Serious Crimes Unit arrests and charged a 42 years-old man from Halaleva yesterday morning 19th March, with Making Counterfeit Currency.

 

They also seized $10 Counterfeit Currency that amounted to $150 in total and a color printer that the accused allegedly used to print out the Counterfeit Currency.

 

The accused is remanded in custody to appear at the Magistrate Court.

 

Tonga Police believes that Counterfeit currency is currently in circulation and is warning members of the Public to be aware of it and to check all pa’anga Notes before accepting them.

 

To identify genuine pa’anga notes and counterfeits the National Reserve Bank of Tonga have prepared a pamphlet outlining security features to assist the public in identifying genuine pa’anga notes and Counterfeits.

 

Tonga Police Serious Crimes Unit continues to investigate this matter.
